Wine (s!) of the Week - Riesling & Malbec

Afternoon beauties

What better way to start a blogging week than with 2 gorgeous wines! I have 2 beautiful wines to share with you today that we enjoyed over the weekend.

On Friday evening we started with a 2011 Riesling.  This is a New Zealand Riesling so a little different to the common German Rieslings which are more often associated with this grape variety. The tasting notes describe this as 'slightly off dry in style with flavours of honeysuckle, ripe apricot and lime. It has zippy acidity and mineral undercurrent'. On my taste I felt it was more medium tasting but it was lovely and smooth on the palate, really zesty and ever so easy to drink.

My second wine of the week is a gorgeous 2012 Argentinian Malbec. It's beautiful. Described as 'round and fulsome on the palate with tastes of ripe fresh black fruit and bramble. Held together by lush tannin's'. Ohhh it was a gorgeous wine, didn't last long at all on Saturday! This is an award winning wine recently being awarded the Decanter's 'best Argentinian Malbec under £10' trophy. You can find out more about the Decanter awards by clicking the Decanter link.

Both wines are to buy from Majestic Wines so very easy to purchase.

All in all a fabulous wine filled weekend!
