Our Week!

This week has been really lovely. A complete mix throughout and a busy one! If you read last weeks roundup you'll know I was heading off to a wine tasting with some friends. This was great and we had fun, we tried lots of fab wines and perhaps got a little bit tipsy......maybe a little. Typically Alfie woke us up at 6:15am prompt, you can't make this stuff up, all week we've been waking him for school and the one day he can lie he doesn't. We definitely felt a little delicate for a couple of hours! As all parents know it was a case of sucking it up and getting on with it which we did. Adi popped to Suffolk to our rental property to do a few bits and pieces while I looked after the kids, cleaning and tidying ready for our little get together in the evening.

We were hosting a little fireworks family thing on Saturday evening, we did the same thing last year and this was literally just after we'd moved in so it felt like a nice thing to do it again - perhaps we'll make it a little tradition. We had the grandparents round which was lovely. All was going brilliantly, the kids were hyper, they hadn't had any sugar but seemed to be really excited........a little too excited, in what seemed to be slow motion there was a bit of an accident. All I remember was Alfie running towards Elarna and him bear hugging her in a brotherly way and then a sickening thud followed by screams and tears. Honestly, it was manic. So basically Elarna fell backward and hit her head on the tiles, she had a huge egg sized bump and lots of tears but actually was fine (I was on head injury watch for the rest of the night!), Alfie we really weren't sure what happened, he was screaming and screaming and there was bleeding but it took us a while to establish where from and calm him down (thankyou dinosaur sweets!) - it would seem that as they both tumbled he had bitten his tongue and his finger and in Alfie's words 'it hurt lots and was stingy', bless him! Once all these dramatics were over we watched the fireworks that were just over the road and then chilled out for the rest of the evening. It was fab. On Sunday we had a fairly quiet day, we finally decided on our tiles for the en suite, both Adi & I are possibly the most indecisive people ever so to finally make a decision was an achievement, ha!

On Sunday afternoon I took Alfie over to my parents as it was Lenny day!! My Mum and Dad had just picked up their new pup, a gorgeous Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, ohhh he is soooo gorgeous, I could've stayed cuddling him all afternoon, I'm so pleased that they've got a new puppy, the house just didn't feel the same without a doggy presence and I think it's good for them to have one - plus who doesn't love a cute puppy cuddle.

The rest of the week has been spent mostly working and feeling a little bit sad that I now only have 2 more shifts at my current surgery! My 3 months notice has gone so quickly, I'm starting to look forward to my new job though and I can't wait to be working nearer home, that is a huge bonus. I think it will be a positive move.

There has also been more sleepless nights this week, I think teething (again), although we've had a brief break it does seem to be rearing it's head again which is sucky, hopefully it will pass us soon - keep your fingers crossed! Teething is the work of the devil.

So this is my weekly roundup, how has your week been?

  6. Ah bless him I bet that was awful and something our two were always when they were little. It so scary when they get huge egg on their head bless. And aw bet the puppy is adorable, its odd when you have had a dog life never feel quite the same without them x

  8. Ouch! That did sound painful, and when head injuries are concerned you can never be too cautious can you. So glad everyone was ok and you managed to watch the fireworks. I'm sure the puppy certainly helped put all that behind them!
Have a good week and I hope you get a few nights sleep thru the teething

  9. I can't believe it's been a whole year since you moved into your house. It feels like yesterday you were talking about the big move. I hope Elarna is doing much better. These things are sent to us to bloody freak us out x #bestandworst

  10. Oh I love King Charles spaniels. I used to have a dear little ruby one called Rosie. She was so lovely. I'd love a black and tan one but hubby thought it'd be a good idea to get a Bassett Hound. Not a good idea! She's really heavy, stubborn and so so loud.
I'm glad Alarna and Alphie are both ok after their accident.
    Thanks for hosting #bestandworst ☺

  11. Oh poor Elarna. The sound is always the worst isn't it and then the pause before the almighty scream! #bestandworst

  12. So sorry, I kind of lost the plot as soon as I saw the puppy photo. He is so cute and they are the sweetest little doggies ever (I would say that, Little Orange Dog is a Ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel). Glad the firework party eventually went well #bestandworst x

  15. Oooh wine tasting.. Unfortunately these days just the thought of wine gives me a hangover, and with a 2 year old that never sleeps I sometimes wonder if it's worth it (it is! Ha). Poor babas. I hope they are both ok x

  17. I'm into week 3 of broken nights sleep. My little one has had a pesky cold/cough all this time which doesn't seem to want to shift. He's got so overtired with it it's affecting his sleep and mine! Hopefully it will go soon. Glad you had a great bonfire night despite the accident! Always nice to have get togethers. #bestandworst

  18. Ah sounds like a good week! Kids just know if you've been out they will rise at the crack of dawn but if you all need to get out of the house they are like the walking dead. Oh not good about the accident but glad everyone was okay! #bestandworst

  19. Too much wine and having to parent the next day is never fun, I feel for you. Sounds like you had a good week, other than the bump and blood :-) So long as everyone is ok now though #BestandWorst

  20. Ah teething is the worst especially when you've two going through it at the same time. #bestandworst

  21. Why must our children abuse us in that way? ;-) They have some kind of 6th sense when we are destined for a for a hangover to pick that morning to come down with a bug or wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed at the first sign of daybreak. Sigh. We have all been there! #bestandworst
