Kit and Kin *Review*

Have you heard of Kit & Kin? Perhaps not. Well I'm going to tell you a little more about this brand. Recently launched Kit & Kin has been founded by 'baby spice' herself Emma Bunton and Christopher Money. Frustrated by the increase of harmful and unsustainable products Emma and Chris were inspired to create an eco-friendly brand that was both affordable and appealing to families.

It can be a difficult move to break into an industry that is packed full of different brands promising different things but Kit & Kin are really trying to make a mark with their biodegradable and chemical free products.

So what have been testing out?

We were sent a lovely selection of items to test out. We received some nappies, nappy sacks, bubble bath, hair and body and wash and some magic salve. Firstly, I adore the packaging. It's clean, it's fresh and something that I would pick up and put in my shopping basket. It looks appealing and I like it alot.

The design of the nappies (RRP 9.99 full price or £7.49 as part of the subscription pack) are utterly adorable, plain white on the front with the cutest animal design on the back, we were sent the bear, as modelled by Elarna further down, they also fit beautifully and were very snug and had a good absorbency to them during the day, although they didn't keep her dry through the night but I put this down to them being on longer. Each nappy uses more sustainable, uses less chemicals and are dermatologically tested . The nappy sacks are also bio-degradable and come in a rather handy little box with the cute design on the front, I also like how slim the box is meaning it's very space saving if you want to pop them into the changing bag.

The bubble bath and hair and body wash (both have a RRP of £7.99) were nice, they created a lovely lather the only thing missing was a nice scent. I don't know about you but when my kids have been playing and are grubby I want to make them smell nice so I'm always a little disappointed when these kind of products just don't smell of anything. That being said they create lots of beautiful bubbles and left both Alfie and Elarna's skin feeling nice and soft. My favourite item has to be the magic salve (RRP £7.99), oh I loved this. It has a light and fresh fragrance, lavender I think and it slowly melts into your hands as you scoop it out of the pot and rub your hands together. It's designed to be a nappy salve but I have to admit I smothered Elarna in it as I found it made her skin so smooth. It smelt so good.

Did you know that conventional nappies are one of the main contributors to landfill in the world today. That's an awful thought isn't it, and I have to admit to being one of those contributors. According to statistics we throw away 8 million nappies every day.  The amazing thing with Kit & Kin nappies is that the majority of it and the packaging will biodegrade within 3 - 5 years. So not only can you be assured that you are using a reputable product you're also doing your bit for the environment.

So if you fancy trying something more sustainable and more environmentally friendly absolutely check out Kit & Kin and have a look through their full range of products.

* Please note I was kindly sent these items free of charge in exchange for an honest and unbiased review, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

  3. The packaging is beautiful! I often wonder why, when it possible to make biodegradable nappies and bags, everything isn't biodegradable #bestandworst

  4. What a fantastic new brand! I shudder at the landfill we have created though disposable nappies but never found a good alternative. I'm also always looking out for chemical free products as I am trying to cut chemicals out of our house as much as I can x #bestandworst

  6. Where were they 13 years ago when I needed them?! The Tubblet has eczema and it took us ages to find decent products that didn't make things worse.

  13. The nappies a very cute and great that they are mainly biodegradable. My biggest parenting guilt is nappies. I really wish that I'd looked at reuseable nappies. If we have another one then I might, or I will at least consider these as a better alternative for the day time.

I'm completely with you on making your little ones smell nice too! #BestAndWorst

  17. When we set out on our parenting adventure we were concerned about the environment so turned to cloth nappies but they didn't work out. This looks like the perfect alternative. #bestandworst
