One Step too Far - A Book Review

My latest book that I've been reading is called One Step too Far by Tina Seksis. This is a separate book club set up by some mummy friends, we all pick a book and have a number of weeks to read it and then we chat about it, pretty much standard for a book club really :-) I like it because it makes me to get back into the habit of reading again and this book was relatively easy to follow and had an interesting storyline.

So what's it about?

An apparently happy marriage, beautiful son and an idyllic life........ so what makes Emily Coleman walk away from her life so suddenly? Why does she leave her happy life, change everything and become a different person? What secret could she be hiding? We follow Emily's journey into a new life and new identity and her battle with personal demons, we find her making allies and friends in the unlikeliest of places and take on a new persona.

Did I like it?

To begin with I found it quite hard to get into as there was lots of different pieces of information being fed to you within the story which made it hard to keep up, once I got to half way I couldn't put it down and wanted to read the ending so I knew what had actually happened in her life! There were a few occasions within in the book where I did have to reread, particularly the ending as again the author writes in such a way it was difficult to comprehend what was actually going on, it would appear that Seskis wants you to believe one thing but that's not what is actually happening, quite complicated! Overall it's a well written book with lots of twists and turns that keep you guessing throughout, if I was to give it a rating I would give it 3/5 purely because in parts it is tricky to keep up and some of the characters are a little under developed, however this doesn't spoil the story.

About the author.

Tina Seskis is a UK based author, originally studying business at the University of Bath she worked in marketing and advertising for over 20 years. One Step too Far was written over a 2 month period in summer 2010 and she has since gone on to write some more novels recently.

  1. Defo putting this on my 'to read' list. I like to know that a book is hard to follow in places but worth it in the end, else I'll give up on it when it becomes hard to follow. I love reading new authors to, as my favourites can only write to many books lol
    Great review thank you
