Happy 4th Birthday Alfie!

So here we are. May 2016. It has been nearly 4 whole years since I gave birth to my little Alfie pants. Did I blink and miss the last 4 years? My little lad is going to be 4, we are going to be parents of a FOUR year old for goodness sake. We are leaving the threenage years behind (I hope) and entering a new stage (the fearsome foursomes apparently, excellent)! 

I still remember giving birth and labour vividly, it's strange but I do sometimes have flashbacks, because I was left quite traumatised I suspect this is quite normal but I do find myself dwelling on the birth and the weeks that followed alot when it comes around to birthday time. 

Through a drug induced and exhausted,lack of sleep state I remember being wheeled into the ward and just stared at this squidgy little thing that we'd made. I wanted to cuddle him close and I stared at him for what seemed like hours. He was a perfect bundle of squishiness. Who knew the time would escape me so quickly and I'd be soon staring at 4 year old cheeky lad starting school in September. I actually feel quite emotional while writing this, it's just insane. I wish I could just slow down time, I take hundreds of photos that I love to look back on, I never want to miss a thing and love (most of the non tantrumming!) time with him. 

Alfie is a character. I see traits of both myself and my hubby in him. He's cheeky, so cheeky, he's stubborn, sensitive, funny, loud, active and non stop ALL day, caring, at times shy, intelligent and sharp as a button.  He doesn't miss a trick, his memory is insane, so sharp that at times it's scary! He's obsessed with dinosaurs, Thomas and Friends, anything constructiony and wildlife/zoo animals. He loves to look through the animal encyclopaedia and will quite happily sit and watch Steve Backshall on the TV. He loves to watch Disney films but just as equally as playing outside and getting mucky.

To celebrate his birthday we are going to Woburn Safari Park, he is really looking forward to it and considering we seem to be working our way through the UK zoos I hope it's as good as I remember. On Saturday we are having a bit of a party with a bouncy castle and cake......oh there will be lots of cake! I think he's looking forward to it, I expect he might be a little over whelmed but I'm sure once he's gotten over that he'll be bouncing all over the place.
