Elarna Birth & Beyond - Update #7

Wow, here we are again with the latest Elarna update! I feel like I only just wrote the 6 month update and yet I'm writing her 7 month update, I keep wondering how is that even possible?! As you know it's been a hectic month with moving and settling in but thankfully things are starting to settle down slightly and normal routine is resuming to a degree.

My little girl really does cheer me up, she is truly THE most smiliest baby ever, she will just grin and grin all day, it is actually the most gorgeous thing ever! She does also have a pair of lungs of her though, my god this girl can scream and wail like something else, if she doesn't get what she wants immediately she starts the most bizarre wailing and whinging and then it builds into a crescendo until I have to get my arse into gear to determine what it is she wants, haha. I can tell that I'm going to have my work cut out with this princess!

We have had a couple of big developments in the last month *insert drum roll here*.....we have a little toothy peg!! It actually came through not long after writing the last update, I made the cardinal mistake of thinking we got away quite lightly and I guess we did but as soon as I started saying that she had been ok she went to the grumps and 3-4 wake ups a night, that will teach me to feel slightly smug ha! She has the 2nd one starting to show in her gums and the sleepless nights have started again so I'm hoping the little buggers comes through soon! Judging by the pictures below though you would forgiven for thinking that she could ever be grumpy!

Also this month she has become a right little speed demon with the crawling (much to Alfie's dismay as she is totally into touching his toys!), it's reached the stage where I look away for a few seconds and find she's on the other side of the room!

In these updates I always like to talk about the sibling relationship. I recently wrote about the issues that I have been having. On reflection and reading that post I probably do Alfie a discredit, I make him sound awful and he's not, it's just a very small amount of time that he's like this, other times, as these photos show that he can be very caring and sweet with her. The other morning I found him reading to her while she was in her cot, so cute.

In the last few days this little monkey has also been finding that her legs and arms can do other things than crawl. I put her down for a little nap in the afternoon and when she woke I went into her room to find she had pulled herself up in her cot and was pleased as punch with her achievement!! She stood there for a good 5 minutes so I could snap a photo before her little legs finally gave way. I reckon I might have an early walker on my hands! We shall what happens in the next couple of months.

In other news and I don't usually like to talk about myself in these updates but I am so gutted about my hair. I really thought that I had got away this time without losing much but it would appear it has taken a few months for my hormones to sort themselves out and clearly it has taken a toll on my hair. I could probably knit a small jumper the amount of hair that is falling out, it's absolutely pants. I am so thin around the sides of my head, it's awful and I now have a ton of baby hair growing so basically my hair just looks horrendous at the moment, wahhhh! I remembered I had some nourkrin tablets that I was kindly sent a while ago so I'm taking those and hoping that they will promote some hair growth and my hair will be back to looking ok soon........please, please, please!!

Thanks for reading and I'll be back again next month with Elarna's 8 month update! I wonder what they next 4 weeks have in store for us.

  1. Another month gone? Eek. She is a little cute Diva and can't believe she is standing up in the cot already. I bet it was lovely seeing Alfie reading to her after a tough week. I know exactly how you feel about the hair falling out - was a nightmare!! x #fartglitter

  2. I love reading these little updates!!! I miss this age. Hooray to a little tooth!!! I can so relate to the hair falling out too. My hair was so thick and glossy when I was pregnant and honestly, I was scared by the amount that was coming out. She is so cute by the way. xxx #MarvMondays

  3. Haha, yes, the cardinal sin of being smug and then having reality bite you on the butt moments later. Happens to me often. I feel your pain. Half my hair fell out when I stopped expressing. It's coming back now. Half of my hair is shoulder length, the other half is a fluffy four inches. It flies around and makes me look like I'm nuts. It came back by itself though.

Thanks for linking up to #fartglitter x

  5. Awwww such adorable pics of you all!!! I love those 'month' cards...such a terrific idea (wish I had of thought of those!!). My little girl sounds very similar...feisty, early walking (to chase her brother) and stubborn....she is over 2 now...and well...good luck...Wouldn't have it any other way. As for the hair, definitely hormones...hopefully it will settle down. I used to have dead straight hair, and now it looks like I have an '80's perm since kids...weird!!! Cheers! #bestandworst

  6. Your little lady is adorable! Yey to her first tooth and standing in her cot. My two started to really bond at about this age too and it's lovely to see them play together. Lovely post as always. Thank you for hosting xx #bestandworst

  9. Your little one is gorgeous!! Look at those cute outfits! Lovely photos! The relationship between siblings is always a tricky one at the beginning. My eldest is 5 and my little one is 15 months so it is a 4 year gap so she was very aware of what was happening specially at the the first months but now they are in love to each other and they just play all the time which is beautiful to watch. I had the same issue with my hair.It didn't stop falling!! I though t I was going to get bold!! LOL But it will stop at some point. I promise you! Thanks for hosting, :-) x

  10. Ah yes I am known to think we have got away with something lightly only for it to bite me on the bum! My youngest has been poorly with one thing or another for weeks. It's really been dragging out. He finally seemed to be on the way up and feeling much better. I breathed a sigh of relief and stupidly told everyone he was better. erm, no, it was just a 3 day break in the autumn virus hell!!
    Thanks for hosting #bestandworst

  13. It goes so fast doesn't it. Can't believe you are updating another month already. Also I feel you with the hair thing. Mine is the same. Even two years later it is really thin round the sides and I also keep having hair fall out and baby hair come through. I hate it. Think I may need to start taking vitamins or something.

    Thanks for hosting bestandworst

  17. Oh my goodness...that smile!! Totally gorgeous! What a lovely update and a lovely thing to do to remember all the development bits. Oh the hair thing is cruel isn't it. Take heart...it will settle down. Joys of motherhood hey!? And at least you have that gorgeous squidgy smiley face to make you feel better! #bestandworst

  18. Haaaa, just realised how that sounded...I don't mean YOUR face by the way!! Your face is definitely not squidgy.

  20. Time really does fly. I still see my baby as an 8 month old, when she's actually just celebrated her first birthday! We have similar issues with her older brother, he's just a little heavy handed but they're little partners in crime it's so sweet! My hair is still falling out and clogging drains I'm surprised I have any left! Thanks for hosting #bestandworst

  21. she is adorable! I had (am still having) the worst time with my youngest's teeth too, and of course right after I told a friend, "none of my kids ever had issues with teething." Isn't that just how it works?! ;) And I adore the sibling pictures. Watching the older ones learn that kind of love for the little ones is the most precious part of parenting to me! #bestandworst

  22. She looks so cute and adorable! I can't believe that cute little baby knows how to whine... lol I know how awful it is with hair loss, isn't it? been there and I'm even scared that i would get bald with the amount of hair that fell.. #bestandworst

  23. Ahh she's so adorable, so cute when they get their first teeth. Oh the hair loss, I remember it well, those annoying new wispy bits of hair that just stick up! #bestandworst

  24. Oh I hope those teeth aren't too much trouble for her, My little one got her first two at 4.5 months but her we are 10m waiting on any more! M also thinning around the edges of my hair. I hate the littl baby strays! #bestandworst

  31. What a beautiful smile she has. My eldest was a little heavy handed with his younger brother when he was a baby. Not nasty, he just wanted the baby to do stuff with him, and use to try to 'help' the baby a lot.

  32. She is a beautiful smiley gorgeous girl isn't she! Love her outfits, and you've got some gorgeous photos to remind yourselves of this time when she is older. I hope she doesn't suffer too much with the rest of her teeth coming through...! So sweet to hear that her brother was reading to her-unprompted!! I'd never find my eldest doing that to the little one!!

  34. Ah she is such a little smasher! I hope for your sake she's not an early walker though, life is so much easier when they can't move too far isn't it! So sorry to hear about your hair, it's so gutting when that happens. I recently read you can use Main 'n' Tail shampoo and conditioner - it's actually for horses (I realise how bonkers this sounds) but is fine for humans as well. It's on Amazon, and has great reviews! But I bet it feels worse than it is and noone else will notice. Becky xx #bestandworst
