My Little French Riviera Box - Review

I'm a little late with the June review for 'My Little Box' , one because they sent them out late and two because I was away and didn't receive it till I returned home on Tuesday. I had see spoilers so knew that the theme this month was French Riviera (fab!) but I had read that the products sent this month were not so great. I never like to pre-judge a box before receiving it if I can help it so was eagerly looking forward to getting home to see what was included.

Firstly, the box. I love it. First impressions always count and this box is just gorgeous. It's puts me right back in the holiday spirit. As I have a love for all things French and summery I couldn't wait to see what was inside the delightfully French box. I also adore that everything seems to be colour co-ordinated this month in hues of turquoise and blues.

On opening the box I was intrigued, a box, a strange plant thing and the usual little canvas bag hiding the goodies.

Love the postcard included in this months box. France is my happy place (more to come on that in another post!). This is being framed and put up on my wall to remind me of my dreams.

I unravelled these strange looking things, they look like little ships don't you think? I was a bit unclear as to what they actually are meant to be used for until I read the info card that they are planters (?) but are designed to be used for make up brushes and other bits and pieces (I think). These carry a retail price of £6.50 but I don't think I would ever pay that amount for them, especially since the smaller of the 2 was ripped on one side (you can just make it out on the picture).

Next, and I do hate to say it, we were sent these god awful sunglasses. They really are nasty, they are cheap, they feel cheap, look cheap and are no way worth the RRP of £18! These are the worst item I have received since I have been subscribing to My Little Box and they certainly do not scream French Riviera to me! These will without a doubt be binned.

Onto the products. The first item sent is a gorgeous Sea Salt Scrub (RRP £8.50 for 75ml), I love a good scrub and this one made of Guerande sea salt crystals and Ajonc water, it is divine and probably won't last long! It smells so fresh and sea like too, almost feels like I'm at the beach. Lovely.

The next item is by one of my favourite haircare brands, Kerastase. The Ciment Thermique range is one of my favourite's for damaged hair and this resurfacing, strengthening milk is a must for my hair so I'm really pleased that I've received this.

Lastly, a rather nice turquoise nail polish (RRP £6.50). Can't say a whole load more about it as I haven't tested it yet but it's a nice colour and a nice addition to my collection.

Overall, this has not been my favourite box by far. I think it's been very much let down by the awful sunglasses and bizarre planters. This doesn't taint my view on My Little Box however as I think that all of the past boxes have pretty much surpassed expectation so hopefully this is just a one off and next months will be awesome!

Do you receive to My Little Box? What do you think of this months offerings?

  1. I've not heard of this subscription before; great idea! Agree the postcard is gorgeous, I love the quote/image combo. And that nail polish is a lovely colour too! Off to Google this subscription now... Love getting gifts in the post (even if I've bought them and therefore it kinda defeats the point!) x

  4. I love a good scrub and the colour of that nail varnish is gorgeous. It's a shame about the plant holders ... *whispers* they're really easy to make and rather trendy at the moment in the craft arena

  6. It's a shame that the box didn't quite live up to expectations, but it's a lovely idea. I quite like the look of those planter bags.
