Not a Great Start....

Monday morning, the start of the week. Bleary eyed I was woken by Elarna wanting her bottle, my husbands alarm constantly going off and then my son shouting (incredibly loudly) down the monitor 'keep away, keep away!!!!' .....if anyone is a Thomas and Friends fan you will know that he is reciting the character Hector. I reach out to the bedside table to find my glasses and knock the monitor off and my bottle of juice, erghhh.

Not a great start.

I then proceed to kick my husband out of bed who was now running late, I then feed Elarna while trying to convince/bribe Alfie over the monitor to come out of his room and into the bedroom with me, this was met with 'keep away, keep away'.

After feeding Elarna, Alfie decides to join me in our bed, he then starts to pull yank my hair. I reluctantly decide that the day needed to properly start. On making sure both children were safe and they couldn't kill themselves or each other I had my 3 minute (or there about) shower, while washing I drop the shower gel on my foot. F**k that hurt.

Not a great start.

I then trudge down the stairs bleary eyed, dying for my first cup of coffee. I put my machine on and get distracted feeding the monster and settling the littlest, I forget about my sodding coffee, it's stone cold. Rage. I then make another and thankfully don't forget about this one.
Not a great start.

I then start clock watching, when are my parents arriving?? When?? I send them an SOS. It reads...... 'stressed and tired Mama in need of parental help, send chocolate and wine.' This would have been great if I hadn't become distracted by monster once again who decided he wanted purple juice not orange juice so therefore my SOS was never sent and remains in my outbox.
Not a great start.

I start to tidy up the breakfast things when the above happens. For some ridiculous reason as I went to put the rice crispies back I let go of the box. It was literally one of those stupid, stupid moments, I wasn't paying attention and in my sleep deprived state thought they were on the shelf. Clearly not. I could feel rage bubbling up inside me, especially as Alfie appears and asks 'what's up Mummy??' and he then decides it was THE best thing ever to crunch amongst said rice crispies.  Well I suppose it is quite alot of fun to crunch rice crispies between your toes! Surprisingly I remain quite calm.

Not a great start.

If I wasn't a Mum of two, Monday would definitely have been declared a duvet day mainly for my own safety and everyone else's! Thankfully, and I'm sure you'll be pleased to read that the day did improve. The Grandparents arrived, things were more settled and we are all still alive, wahoo! My selfie stick arrived which provided a few minutes of amusement as you can see below, so the afternoon definitely turned out better than the morning. My Mum even managed to take Alfie to the station to watch some trains which meant my Dad could watch Elarna and I could get on with a few jobs (without spilling/hitting/dropping anything).

What I will say is this was not a great start to the week!

How is your week going so far? Any better than mine?

  6. This is my Monday morning every day ( I live with my 60 year old parents and they're worse than kids) ..Leaving beer cans and wine glasses right next to the dishwasher and dirty butter knives on the surfaces. Don't even get me started on the sugar trails on the tea tray!
