Glossybox May 2015 - Review

Here we have the May edition of Glossybox. We are back to the usual pale pink box and the theme loosely this month is 'Summer's Calling'. First impressions of this months box are pretty disappointing actually. Looks like a pretty bog standard bunch of products to be sent.

First item is a brand that I have tried before and really wasn't keen on. Zerreau Towel Off Shampoo Foam (RRP £7.95) designed to be the next generation of dry shampoo you simply apply the foam, massage it in and then immediately towel dry to remove. I remember trying this before and it felt horrible when I applied it and because my hair is a massive frizz ball when any moisture hits it this is not the product for me.

Second item, Philosophy Renewed Hope in a Jar Refreshing & Refining Moisturiser (small sample size received, RRP for full size £35.50) well that is a mouthful! Hope in a Jar is designed to reduce the appearance of fine lines, uneven texture, discolouration and rehydrate leaving the complexion looking radiant. I like Philosophy products and this will be handy for me to throw in my toiletries bag for my hols.

Next item is the MeMeMe Enchanted Eyes Dual Ended Eye Wand (full size received RRP £6.95), I don't mind the brand but I'm not too sure about the colour of this pencil, it's dare I say a little 'Pat Butcher' and a tad garish, I'm yet to have a play around with it and see what effects I can get so I might like it once on, not a horrendous product, I'm just not sure about the colour.

Fourth item I quite like, Etre Belle Aloe Vera Ultra Moisturising Gel (40ml tube received, RRP for full size £15.93). I do really like aloe vera products, especially as an after sun, this is a nice little product although a little sticky when applied, it smells fab though. Glossybox suggests that you can use this to create a healthy glow, nice thought but I'm unsure what it would be like if you were to put a foundation over it. I will definitely be packing this to go away with however!

Lastly and a little bit of a curveball item is the SASS Intimate Perfect Skin Concentrate (30ml received, RRP for full size £12.00), firstly love the packaging of this, it comes in a dead posh little box! It kind of reminds me of something that you'd use in the bedroom if you get me (nudge, nudge, wink, wink). This is designed to be used post shave to soothe the skin and reduce any ingrowing hairs, it's worth a go I guess!

So there we have the May edition of Glossybox in all its glory, I'm not overly fussed over it this month to be honest which is a real shame. Next month on the spoiler card it's all about about festival season, the item that we will all be receiving is a temporary tattoo (SERIOUSLY, a temporary tattoo, how old do they think we are?) Shame that it'll be getting binned I imagine as I grew out of them when I was like 10 years old! I'll try not to pre-judge too much and see what's in store next month.

What do you think of this months box?

  1. Some fab products here! I know what you mean about the Pat Butcher colours, they are just too bright for me! I love the sound of the dry shampoo though! I have tried a few and am yet to find one that works properly!

    1. It's fairly garish that's for sure, might be able to mute it a little blending it into some white eyeshadow, I'll have to experiment XX

  2. My friend has these boxes, she loves the products she gets. The eye wand looks lovely. Not sure I like the idea of the mousse, if your going to make your hair wet with a mousse, then surely you would just wash your hair xx

    1. It's really hit and miss with Glossybox, sometimes they get it bang on, other times not so much. X

  3. I don't like the sound of that "wet "dry" shampoo, can't see the point at all. Either properly dry, or just wash it but somewhere in between sounds mad to me.

    1. It's weird, definitely not for frizzy hair, I'll stick with dry shampoo when needed! x

  4. None of these really appeal to me unfortunately and I agree with you about the tattoo! Ha! Just an attempt to make reference to the festival theme no doubt.

    1. Horrendous, I might cancel next month if it's an awful box and try a different one like Birchbox perhaps. x
