Disney Cars Potty System - Review

Alfie is reaching the age where we are shortly going to have to bite the bullet and start potty training, arghhhhh. As Alfie is my first child I genuinely don't really have a clue where to start so have been doing a bit of reading surrounding this next stage. I had wanted to try a little while ago but it was clear that he wasn't quite ready, however he is now starting to display some clear signals that indicate to me that he's nearing this stage.  As part of the Tomy Blogger programme I was kindly sent a brilliant Disney potty to help me out with this scary next step!

This Tomy 3 in 1 potty is brilliant, not only is it a substantial  and sturdy potty it also includes a trainer seat that can be used on a standard toilet with a car sound effect and also when the lid is down it can be used a step stool! The soft padded seat can be removed and neatly fitted to be used when toilet training and whilst potty training the inner pot can be easily removed for emptying and cleaning.

It's bright, it's colourful and appealing to inquisitive little toddlers and has a reasonable RRP of £29.99 but unfortunately at the moment Alfie will not sit on it!! He's very interested in  what it is but just not overly keen to sit on it at the moment, I reckon give it a couple of months I doubt we'll be able to get him off it! as he does love to press the button to make the car sound effects. What we have been using it for is a step at the sink and it's makes him just the right height to be able to wash his hands.

UPDATE: As of the last couple of days we have had a break through with Alfie sitting on the potty, he is now happy to pop himself on it with lots of praise as he's sitting, we've still got a looongg way to go but I think that's such a positive sign!

I think that this is a great product and will I'm sure assist in in making the transition from nappies to potty simpler and hopefully a little less stressful than it could be.

Has anyone tried these type of potties before? I'm a fan of anything that will help!

We're going on an adventure

  2. Potty training is a nightmare! Well, it was at least for me. I don't know how old Alfie is but It doesn't always pay to start too early. We made that mistake with my eldest. I think he was about 2 at the time. Lots of mess, so I stopped and waited another year before trying again. It paid off. He trained in super quick time, second go. I've heard other people say this too. You could be lucky if he is young, and he trains really quickly. Fingers crossed :). Tx

    1. Thanks for the comment, Alfie is 2 and it's very difficult to know if he is truly ready a few people have advised not to start too early for that reason! Fingers crossed he takes to it ok when we start properly. X

  3. I love this potty! When both mine were at the potty training age and living in a 3 story house (living room level had no toilet)...I found it easier to pop a potty in the living room (with one of these absorbant mats for beds underneath) and just encourage them to go on it...I found it easier in summer time as you could let them run around with no nappy on and as soon as you spot that they need a wee, just place them on the potty...the amount of times they were on the potty during the day is ridiculous and they must think 'what are you doing?'...but as soon as they do go in there and you make the biggest fuss about it they will soon learn that this is what they should be doing!...eventually when they started using the potty all the time, I moved it into the toilet itself and then toddler seat on the toilet etc....good luck!!

  5. I think that is a brilliant idea. Joe never liked potty and went straight to the toilet, but I think this would help a lot of children with potty training.
